First, I would make sure you've included the correct SQLServer JDBC JAR in your classpath. If you have, the I would verify the particulars of your connection: server name, instance name, username, password. You'll likely find that one of those is incorrect.

On a side note:

The driver seem to be included according to the stack trace; net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver is listed

Second, you should never post user names and passwords to a public mailing list, DB system administrator accounts notwithstanding ('sa' is usually the super user). However, as Colin pointed out - you seem to have the wrong credentials.

Hi,

Thank you for quick response.
The credentials I am using to connect are correct as I can connect to Sql server using the same.
Also when I created dummy program to test connectivity with Sql, using same credentials and connection string I can successfully connect to database.
But when I try to connect from quickfix application using config file, I get above error.

Could you please help resolve this issue.

Re: Issue in JDBC connection

Have you tried debugging your dummy program and your QF/J program with a breakpoint in java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection (you have to figure out which one) and compare the JDBC URLs and credentials?

Regards, Øyvind

Regards, Øyvind.

First, I would make sure you've included the correct SQLServer JDBC JAR in your classpath. If you have, the I would verify the particulars of your connection: server name, instance name, username, password. You'll likely find that one of those is incorrect.

Hi,

I thinkyour connection URL is wrong. If you look here http://jtds.sourceforge.net/faq.html then
there is no "instanceName" property as you supplied. Rather "instance".Property "databaseName" is
not listed there either.

Regards,
Chris.

Hi Christoph,

It worked.Thanks a ton.
I was stuck at this since 3 days and did not think twice about connection string as it worked in dummy program. Really grateful.

Correct connection string example: jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<sqlserver name>/[<database>];instance=<instance name>
